Our crew are still on call 24/7 and will still respond if required.

Sidmouth Lifeboat Trustees have taken the decision to close the station until further notice as we would like to minimise the risk to crew and support team.

Sadly, we have also had to close our shop for the time being, as well as remove our popular collection dummies, Sid and Alma, from the seafront.

Crew training has been suspended to protect the service and keep the lifeboat on call as best we can. This decision will be kept under review as the situation develops, to ensure our crew remain well-prepared to respond to call outs.

We would like to thank everyone for their support and cooperation.

Sidmouth Lifeboat 2021 Calendar Now Available To Purchase

As many residents will know, the small shop in the Lifeboat Station at the eastern end of the esplanade plays a vital role in raising funds to help keep Sidmouth’s Independent Lifeboat in service. In common with most businesses in the town, the shop is presently closed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The cramped space in the shop, which makes social distancing impossible, coupled with the mature age of the volunteers who staff the shop, means that it is unlikely to re-open this year.

Many local people support the shop by buying a Sidmouth Lifeboat Calendar each year. The 2021 calendars were printed a few weeks before the lockdown began, but if any readers would like a calendar for next year, they can buy one for £7 to include postage.

How to purchase:
1. Online with a credit or debit card at
2. By emailing our Treasurer
3. By sending your name and address and a cheque made out to ‘Sidmouth Lifeboat’ to The Treasurer, The Lifeboat Station, The Esplanade, Sidmouth EX10 8BE.

Calendars are £7.00 each, and that price includes postage and packaging.

Sidmouth Lifeboat is a fully self-funded independent lifeboat in East Devon, covering an area of approximately 150 square miles of sea between Axmouth and Budleigh Salterton.

We are on service 24 hours a day, 365 days per year and all crew members are volunteers.

100% of money raised is used to keep the boat maintained and crew trained and equipped.

Sidmouth Lifeboat is not part of, or funded by the RNLI, although we do have close links with the RNLI through the nature of our work. Sidmouth Lifeboat is funded entirely by the community in and around the Sid Valley and friends of Sidmouth Lifeboat from further away who also give so generously .
